Shioya style photo class “1st”

06-08-12_19-43.jpgI am on the left.
I had my photo class “1st” on Saturday, August 12 (with students who could not attend the class originally held on July 29th).
“2nd” class is on August 27 and the theme is “when you take photos of your lover…”

Be more fierce

DSC05617.JPG
Fortunately I could find and buy a book called “Manga Super technique lectureship” which was published in 1988 and includes illustrations and techniques by Japanese famous Manga (Japanese for “comic”) artists. Mr. Hiroki Mafuyu, one of the artists, especially placed a newly drawn comic work called “CALLING” in the book (that is available in his official website http://hirokimafuyu.com/ in both Japanese and English).
I love to be inspired by drawings and illusrations and as a photographer I admire that such artists are able to produce their thoughts and impressions out of nothing. Of course techniques are required in professionalism but not prioritized. Although it is absolute that Hiroki Mafuyu has excellent techniques as a professional manga artist/illustrator, I can hear his songs from his works.
Hiroki Mafuyu himself is also admirable. When we had drinks together he said “I am a craftsman. 50 years old but I want to get works everyday!”. I have such a friend and have to be more fierce.

Because it is raining

DSC05533.JPGDSC05536.JPGDSC05539.JPG
I went out with my camera. It was like entering a different society around my apartment. I did not know there is a cool cafe behind my apartment at all. Garden plants and old people. My area is old fashioned and quiet. I guess that is why I did not meet any snails, symbol of time.
